About meVeterinary Dr. Sabine Wettengel

I became interested in equine acupuncture at the beginning of my veterinary studies. While on a practical in Kentucky/USA, I observed top equine athletes benefiting from equine acupuncture. The effects were amazing and I started studying acupuncture from that time forward.

During my veterinary education at Ludwig Maximilians Universität in Munich/Germany, I did practicals at equine clinics in Germany, England, Australia and the United States. These practicals included acupuncture, osteopathy and Western medicine.

I began with human acupuncture and ATF courses (Akademie für tierärztliche Fortbildung). I then became certified as a veterinary acupuncturist through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society’s (IVAS) course in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

After graduation, I spent one year working at the surgical unit of the Ludwig Maximilians Universität´s veterinary clinic.

Then I completed my education with practicals under some of the most well-known equine acupuncturists and osteopaths in the United States, regarded to be the founders of modern equine acupuncture.

I became member of IVAS at that time. The International Veterinary Acupuncture Society sponsors an annual continuing education conference where new insights in acupuncture treatment are shared.

When I returned to Germany, I opened my own practice specializing in equine acupuncture and osteopathy.

I have given lectures on acupuncture ATF and IVAS.
